work(s)

See... here's the thing. I do a little bit of everything. Aside from normal job stuff, I coach curling and play competitively, I write stories & screenplays, I shoot & edit video, I love taking pictures, I write & perform music, and so on.

I have a degree in Broadcast Journalism from Ryerson University, and am currently working on my Masters degree in Communication and Technology from the University of Alberta. The rest of this page will be written in the 3rd person because it seems more impressive and less vein.

Media

Currently working in a technical role for CBC News, Brian has experience in broadcasting at The Score Television Network, ESPN, ABC, Fox - Boston, and Ryerson University. He's written for a number of publications including the Toronto Star, The Digital Edge, Cyberwalker Media Syndicates and a number of websites. He enjoys also creative writing and working on film projects. In July 2007, awarded the Best Original Screenplay Prize at the 48-Hour Toronto Film Challenge, where his group's film "The Lounge Singer" captured the Best Picture Award and was claimed the winner of the competition. His company Countdown Productions has been doing freelance video and web design in Toronto since 2005.

Performance

Although hardly critically aclaimed, Brian has performed as an actor, a singer, and musician in a variety of different roles. He appeared in the 48-Hour Film Challenge entry "Pursuit of the Tail" as a mechanic who becomes the victim of a tragic accident. In two student television productions, Brian hosted children's shows called "Pleasantville Post" and "Come Swim With Me." He enjoys singing, writing and playing guitar music, and performing at every opportunity. He's performed with bands, and resurrects a solo act as Timmy at least once a year.

Curling

As a teenager, Brian visited the U.S. Junior Nationals three times, finishing as high as 5th. For the last 10 years, he's been coaching at Trillium Curling Camp with some of the best instructors in the world. He's also coached at junior camps at the National Training Centre in Calgary, AB, as well as several other annual clinics in and around Toronto, ON. He resurrected his competetive playing career in 2007 making a trip to the Ontario Provincial Championships, where he finished 6th under skip Damien Villard.
